What I learned from my 30-day Course Creation Challenge with Sarah Cordiner
And check! After 30 days + a couple extra for the finishing touches, my course on how to effectively network at an online event was out. But for those who think it was easy to it done in such a short time, think again!
1. A steep learning curve
This is not the first time I do these kinds of coaching and I did expect to be confronted to a steep learning curve. It was an understatement. Between the marketing and the technical details without even going into developing the content, this was not a ride in the park.
Luckily, Sarah was very hands-on in her support. There were more than once moments I was near giving up. I broke, for example, my microphone by twice and wasn’t sure a headset would do. But she quickly got me back on track by reminding me to focus on the essentials (“GET YOUR COURSE OUT!”).
2. Two programs for the price of one
I love doing a good deal and this coaching package was one. It was not just a course creation coaching program, but also a business coaching one. We were, for example, given a sneak-peek into Sarah’s own marketing strategy or, even better, how she runs her business on a day-to-day basis.
For me, it was also a good excuse to update my Facebook skills. It is a social media platform I rarely use and don’t know that well. But as this is a Facebook-centric program, I had to step up and acquire new skills such as learning how to go live or how to get the most of Facebook groups.
3. Becoming a “Working Mum”
This was an unexpected one for me, but the program challenged me deeply regarding my own profile as a working mum. I opted for a long maternity leave and then got caught up in a long, complicated process to set up my business. It was difficult to know where to go from there.
The coaching helped me to pull up my professional working shoes again, thinking about my own priorities. I am still not at terms with what it means to be a mum and an entrepreneur at the same time. But the program did help me to get closer to what it might be.
For the future? Well, a very appreciated bonus is that I don’t just have access to this March challenge, but also to the next one in June…
So…Any idea for a next course on networking?
